Germaine WilsonGermaine Wilson

From Classical to Calypso, Pop, a little bit of Rhythm and Blues, lots of Jazz not to mention Rapso and Rap, Germaine Wilson is making her name, in the musical arena in Trinidad and Tobago.

Germaine Wilson began singing in public at the Diego Martin Government Primary School; all she remembers is her class teacher, Mrs. Gilkes, saying, "little Germaine singing lead solo." It didn't seem as any thing big to Germaine back then, she just wanted to sing with the school choir for Music Festival.

After singing for many years in School and Church her first major competition was at Scouting for Talent with Neil Giuseppi in 1995. Later on that same year that Germaine joined the Lydian Singers. Mesmerized by the voices of Edward Cumberbatch, Joanne Pyle, and Glennis Yearwood. Germaine was blown out of her mind, and hoped that she to could learn to sing like that someday. It was there that Germaine came to understand that music was much more complex than just singing from your heart. The experience with the Lydians gave her a new appreciation for classical music, folk songs and spirituals.

By 2002, she had not only been a lead and understudy for two operas staged by the Lydian Singers. But was exposed to and fully involved in Folk/Modern Dance and Drama through the Prime Minister's Best Village Competition. Being accepted as both actress and singer.

Germaine has held the title for the Most Outstanding Performer three times at the Festival in 2002, 2006 & 2008. After winning four trophies in 2006 from the Music Festival, Germaine copped another six trophies the following Music Festival in 2008.

Most recently Germaine was accepted at the prestigious Berkley College of Music in Boston to pursue her Masters degree in Music and the Performing Arts.

Germaine knows that her talent is a wonderful gift from God, yet she admires and is inspired by all the musical talent around her. Close to her heart, "Pat Bishop to me is not just a musical director but the Mother of the Arts...at least in Trinidad and Tobago." The celebrated singers, musicians, and writers Ella Andall, Andre Tanker, Black Stalin, Jesse Norman, Mariam Makeba, and more also figure as influences. She hopes to never stop singing.
