Candice AlcantaraCandice Alcantara
Candice Alcantara is a passionate young vocalist that delves into both the classical and adult contemporary arenas and would be hard pressed to choose one over the other.

Added to her jazzy interpretations of calypso classics are the heartfelt original compositions by Candice herself, that reflect on love and relationships of all kinds. If you have seen Candice captivate an audience with her interpretation of Rhythm and Blues and Neo-soul hits then you have a sense of the depth of this young artiste.

Candice has lent her beautiful voice to productions of Porgy and Bess (role of Clara) and as Mary Magdelene in Jesus Christ Superstar. She’s won the Caribbean Sunshine Award for Best New Female Vocalist in 2002 and is a recipient of the Ffrench Trophy for the Most Promising Performer in the 2004 Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival. In 2005 she recorded the self titled album ‘Candice’.

She has had the great opportunity to perform in different countries within the region for jazz and music festivals. She has been featured in numerous classical recitals and private functions.

A Fulbright fellowship allowed Candice to complete graduate studies specializing in music business in Chicago. Candice Alcantara is a writer member of the COTT board and the Trinidad and Tobago Music Festival Association Committee.
