     HISTORY OF "JAZZ ARTISTS ON THE GREENS": www.jaotg.org

    azz events have become de rigueur throughout the world of international tourism, and the jazz festival concept has blossomed into big business. Though billed as jazz festivals, the majority of these events in the Caribbean have taken to packing their schedules with everything from pop to R&B in order to attract younger, broader audiences. In sharp contrast, Production One Ltd. has been successfully producing its flagship event, Jazz Artists On The Greens, annually since 2003 with an ear tuned to traditional jazz and its Caribbean variation.

    Consistent with its vision of a professionally produced format that encompasses the delivery of a delightful mix of contemporary Caribbean Jazz entertainment and relaxation in an informal atmosphere, Production One Ltd. identified what has turned out to be quite a hit with its patrons – a most appropriate venue at the Centre for Creative and Festival Arts in St. Augustine, Trinidad and Tobago. This open-air concert is fashioned to encourage patrons to “walk with their mats and festival chairs” and sit where they are most comfortable as they enjoy good company and good music.

    The first show was held on 1st June 2003 and featured:

    • Ace Pannist, Ken "Professor" Philmore and his ensemble;
    • The élan parle Caribbean/World Fusion Group, under the leadership of Keyboardist – Michael “Ming” Low-Chew-Tung;
    • Sitar Virtuoso Mungal Patasar and his group, Pantar;
    • followed by the headline act, Sean Thomas Quartet, featuring US-based saxophonist Grant Langford.
